month of November – Christmas Card Sales to benefit the Bishop Anthony
Student Aid Endowment Fund to help students from our Metropolis with their
school loans and the St George Benevolence Fund to help our parishioners in
need
11/9/12
(Friday evening – 6:00 pm) – Assembling Baskets of Homemade and Comfort Items
for St George Shut-ins for Thanksgiving
12/3/12
(Monday evening – 6:00 pm) – Annual Christmas Dinner and Benefit – this year
every member is asked to bring a new stuffed animal to the party so we can give
them to a couple of young ladies who are starting a program to give a stuffed
animal to every child who enters a hospital in Kern County.
January
2013 – Membership Month – we are asking all our members to sign up again
for the year to help our causes – dues are $40
1/6/2013
immediately following Divine Liturgy is the Annual Vasilopita Luncheon to raise
funds for St Basil’s Academy located in Garrison, New York- the Academy is
sponsored by all the Philoptochos chapters in the Archdiocese and its goal has
been to help Orthodox orphans.

Months of January & February – canned food drive to help replenish the
Gleaners storage of goods after the holidays
2/2/2013
(Saturday afternoon from 1:00 – 4:00 pm) Kids-n-Cancer Fundraiser – 1st
Annual Kids-n-Cancer Bingo Benefit to be held at St George’s Cultural Hall -
Tickets will be sold in advance for $20 per person.
2/10/13
(Sunday) – Agape Blankets will be collected and distributed from our chapter to
the pediatric wings of local hospitals – any extra blankets will be delivered
to the local Ronald McDonald House for siblings to have one as well
3/18/13
(Monday Evening 5:00 pm) – hosting of Parish 1st Day of Lent
(Kathara Deftera) Vespers and Dinner
3/18/13
through 6/23/13 – Pennies and Prayers Fundraiser – all families are
encouraged to take a Pennies and Prayers container and fill it with their spare
change (fill and return several times if needed!) to help with the Commission
On Mission and Evangelism here in our Metropolis
4/7/13
immediately following Divine Liturgy is the Annual Holy Cross Luncheon to
benefit Holy Cross Seminary in Boston, Massachusetts and St Nicholas Ranch and
Retreat Center in Dunlap, California
